Quick Update

Well, as I have not really updated this blog in almost one year, I'm thinking it's about time to call it quits. A good friend told me that boring blogs are pointless. So in heeding his advice, I'm going to instead concentrate on helping to contribute to "The Magical World of Honeybear" blog. This is a much more amusing conquest; it can be located through the link on this page.

And really what it comes down to is: was anyone even reading this?! It doesn't matter I guess, considering this was a selfish pursuit for my own satisfaction.

Before I forget, Honeybear wants to add that he looks forward to your support for his blog, and that he's excited about sharing his trip to the zoo with all of you [coming soon]....Stay tuned...

And now, for your reading pleasure...this post.

Well, well... it has been a while since the last time I posted, my deepest apologies to those who actually read it, all five of you:)

In any case, I figured this was long overdue, and I actually had the energy to do it, so I figured, hey, why not? I'm pretty sure Honey Bear has more posts than I do, and he just started his a couple of months ago... yeesh.

I am once again back at school after enjoying a relaxing holiday at home, and having a great time with Ken for New Years. I've started to work at Tany's Jewellery again, and it's really nice to have as a change of pace. It's kinda sad really, I've got seniority over all the girls that work there. Counting back, I've essentially worked for that family on-and-off for about 4 years. You need jewellery? a watch? You just come and see me... I can always get you the friend of Tara's discount. And if you have any questions about diamonds, I'm your girl. Speaking of, as I am the most amazing sales girl ever, I won a free Gucci watch up to $1800 from selling the most Gucci watches. And seriously, I never win anything, so this just takes the cake:) You can see a picture of the one I'm getting here: http://www.watchesonnet.com/Gucci/Ladies/5505/YA055512.asp?id_partner=1

And as stated in my previous post, I have great roommates, er, make that roommate, as two of the girls moved out (one back to Quebec, the other wanted to try out west-rez (bad mistake!)). So now I've got my own bathroom, plus tons of cupboard, fridge and freezer space.. YAY!

Honestly, I'm feeling really blessed right now. God has done a lot of great things in my life, and has put amazing people in my life as well. I couldn't really be more content with my life. Seeing as right now my schedule isn't hectic and crazy, I'm hoping things will stay that way when I'm in my final year of school next year. I know I'll be busy, and have way more stress, but with God, all things are possible!

And that dear friends, brings this post to an end, but fear not, for I'm sure there will be more cranial pudding to come.

New Beginnings

As the rain pours outside, I sit once again in my cramped room in Residence, pondering everything, and nothing. I am so happy that I have great roommates this year.. No 1st year students, and hopefully no french fries in my toilet! (see earlier posts) Thank you Lord!

A lot has happened this past summer.. I was jobless for a good three months, got engaged, went to a Sikh wedding, had oodles of difficulties with my student loan (which I'm still waiting on), had to say goodbye to a good friend who's traveling, re-established a connection with an old friend, and generally moved on and grew up some more.

I start teaching my grade one Sunday school class again, and I'm really looking forward to it. I love this time of year. This is the time of new beginnings, and Autumn always makes me happy. I can just feel this giddiness inside me, and everything just seems so..wonderful. Autumn in the prairies is beautiful, and I feel very lucky to be able to experience it.

On the lighter side, I'm in my last nursing clinical until my final focus. I'll be on a surgical unit, either a urology unit or a rectal(?) unit. Hmmm... which is better: catheters, or ostomies? I'm thinking the urology unit would be the better smelling of the two. Plus, I'll be a total expert at inserting a catheter! I've done three already, but that's besides the point! In addition to that, I'm taking a stats course on site at the college, which will hopefully prove to be a better experience than when I tried to do it on my own through AU (three extensions later, I wasn't even done the first unit or handed in any assignments). Let's just see how things go. I've had a pretty good summer, and I pray that this year will be even better than last year.

I hear wedding bells...

How happy am I! As of July 4, 2005, I am now engaged! And I'm engaged to the sweetest guy in the world. I am on top of the world right now, and I can't believe how lucky I am to have this wonderful guy as my fiancé... My Kenny is amazing and I love him so much. Without him I wouldn't be the same person. And, today is our 3 year anniversary. Happy anniversary Kenny Bear! This post (as you can tell) has a much happier tone, as today I am in a state of bliss that only comes with the knowledge that I'm going to marry the love of my life. I wish everyone could feel the happiness I feel right now. I hope that whenever I feel down, that this post will help to lift my spirits. I thank God for giving me Kenny, and I just know our kids are gonna be so super cute! lol Take care everyone... and here's a cute picture of the bling in case you were curious:

Disconnected child

Alrighty, so I do realize that it's been about 2 months since I've updated. But in my defense, I'm not all that apologetic. I have been so incredibly super busy that a lot of things have taken a backseat. I haven't even seen a really good friend of mine since before Christmas! Let me hear y'all say that ain't right.

However, right now I'm doing my clinical on the post-partum unit at the PLC, which means.... BABIES! Babiesbabiesbabiesbabies! And I have nothing but sincere admiration for all those mothers who have given birth, with pain medication or not. They all deserve multiple trophies for what they have to go through. I've had the chance to see a couple deliveries so far, and that was a real eye opener. For one lady, it was her third child, no pain meds, and that baby was out fast. I thought to myself, I could do this. Then, I saw a younger mom who was, well, a screamer. That was a little bit scary, and so I thought, hmm... perhaps it isn't as easy as I thought. In any case, I know I want to have children, and realize that in the end, the pain will be worth it. And I can always use it to my advantage when my kids get older. "Hey! You owe me! I went through 20 hours of labour and a lotta pain to get you out; you owe me big time".

I'm thinking this post is going to be a conglomeration of a whole buncha stuff. For instance, I never have gotten the chance to vent on the fact that my housemates decided to flush french fries down the toilet... the toilet in my bathroom! Seriously now, what's up with that? So yes, the toilet flooded, and stupid me offered to get maintenance to fix it, after our plunger turned out to be useless. However, I let it sit about a week, cuz I was just too darn busy. Finally, after they asked if I had contacted maintenance yet, I figured I would actually do something about it. I went over to my RA's place and borrowed their plunger. It worked better than ours did, so Tara the Super Nurse managed to fix the freaking toilet. Sigh... I'm almost done here. I'll be moving out at the end of the month, whether I'll end up staying at my parents place, or here in Calgary, I'm not sure. I still have to line up a job, and when do I have time to do that? Seriously, I can't wait for school and clinical to be done; I just want to rest!!

Speaking of, I should probably head to bed, I've got another twenty things to do tomorrow.
Until next time!

My cranial pudding is about to explode... "Duck and Cover!"

OK, so I am totally not feeling like I should. Or maybe I'm feeling how I'm supposed to, I don't know, and to be honest, I'm not in a really caring mood right now. Why's that? Stress. Stress stress stress stress stress....it sucks.

I swear, sometimes it feels like I have ADD or ADHD is hyperactive cousin. If anything, I feel so on edge it isn't funny. And I know it has to do with Feb 20. Why February 20? I don't know, except that it's the day my boyfriend is leaving for mexico, the weekend I was supposed to visit my sister in Lethbridge, the weekend I was supposed to start teaching sunday school, the weekend where I was to help out in the church nursery... so if I say yes to one thing, it's no to everything else. There's no way I win! There will always be three people I will have to let down and that really sucks. I hate making decisions and this has only put me under more stress. That dreaded "S" word.... stresses me out. ha.

So here I am, waiting for that day to pass, going day by day, wanting to get enough sleep but can't, therefore I have no motivation and that just makes me more stressed cuz there are things I should be doing. And what was with these past 8 weeks? I've really begun to hate mondays. That's when all my assignments, tests, or presentations had to happen. I have tried to put effort into this course, but i'm seriously running out of steam. Thank you Lord for giving me two weeks off. If I didn't have it, I think I would probably crash.

It's at times like these that when I pass a person on the street, I wonder, 'do they have as crazy a life as me? or are they care free???' For all of those people who don't have a lot of stresses, kudos to you. Seriously. I can't wait to be in your position.

Back to the Grind

My wonderful Christmas vacation has come to an end, and it was a very unproductive one at that. I realize now that I haven't posted in a long time... Oops! It's harder than I thought it would be. Anyways, I'm glad to be back in Rez, though having homecooked meals at home for the holidays was totally awesome. I am glad to be plugged back into the matrix--no internet at my parent's house=no fun for me. Still, getting to see my tubby kitty probably helped with the boredom, despite the fact that I'm slightly allergic, so I sneezed the whole time.

You know, I'm glad I have the opportunity to live away from home; it makes me appreciate how great it is to have good homecooked meals by Mom, but allows me to also establish independence. I've paid my way (with help from good ol' student loans), and I think that it has helped me to learn how to manage my money. Still, Rez truly is like glorified babysitting. There are so many stupid rules we have to follow; I pay rent for goodness sake! Who else is subjected to mandatory room checks, and having their basement locked (don't ask) when they pay rent. When I brought this up with my boyfriend however, he put it into perspective. The way they can get away with such rules is that we don't pay "rent"-- we pay "Rez fees". Argh! The only reason I stay here (this is my third year), is because it's cheap, it includes a whole buncha perks, and it's so close to the college. And because I don't have a car, being close to the college is definitely helpful. Sigh... Oh well! All I can do is take the good with the bad.

I'm so grateful I'm an optimist...
